Television and Home Theater

I have an Olympus digtal voice recorder. When I burn the recordings to a CD the result sounds as though I am in  bowl of water. Can any one tell me how to get rid of the background noise it is not ambient. 

I bought my 50" big screen Mitsubushi TV in 1994 and it was in excellent shape until last week. The problem appears to be because I turned off the the cable box and did not turn off the TV as the TV screen is blank when the cable box is turned off. When I attempted to turn on the TV (after about two weeks), the controls (TV and remote control) do not work at all. A TV repair man came out to the house and told me that I have power but it appears that I fried the micro circuit board.

I have a 36 inch panasonic Flat screen TV purchased in Dec 2003.  I turned the unit off this am and tried to turn it on 4 hrs later.  nothing. I tried another plug. nothing.  I don't remember any power surge or stormy weather. What could be wrong, help, please I am 40 miles from the nearest repairman.   Robertc
