Television and Home Theater

I am in need of some help, I have a Sony HP-53HS30 RPTV that is about 6 years old.  It worked fine this morning for about 5 minutes until when I thought I heard a pop.  This is when the picture became distorted with double images or ghosting as if I was on an antenna that was out of adjustment.  I have cable.  My electrical background is as an Aircraft electrician.  I am aware of the dangers TVs pose concerning HV.  I can do electrical and continuity checks to isolate the problem.  I am trying to locate a service manual, does anyone kno

My 40 inch Samsung flat screen TV is stuck on bbc1 on dtv, only buttons that will work on remote are source, menu, and power. Am unable to change channel or anything. Have tried everything we can possibly think of.

Any ideas or solutions?

Help please! I went to put a DVD into our home theatre system and the DVD player won't turn on. It's a Yorx model DV75000YX. It is plugged in and connected but it doesn't do anything at this point. This has happened once before and with moving it around a bit it returned to working condition but that is not working this time.
