Television and Home Theater

So I got this TV from a friend who traded it for a RPTV I learned to repair on this great resource of a forum, I have a few pictures and would like some opinions. When I got this set it would power up and vertical bands about 3" of the screen would turn white in sections until the whole screen was white, with random pixels colored. As suggested by someone with the same problem, I replaced the main tuner board with a used part. It now turned on but it looked like something I would see on drugs...

The other night my tv started having problems.  The bottom half of the screen flickers, It created bunch of small squares and they have different colors. I can still see the picture through it (hardly). If you know what I could do about this please let me know. Is it possible for me to fix this at home???

I have a 50" rear projection toshiba Model number 50hx81

about a week ago my mother shut it off and when she tried to turn it back on the power light went on for roughly 3 seconds then it started flashing there was no picture or sound and also there was no turning off the red light unless you unplugged it... and if you did unplug it and try to turn it on then it sounded like it would turn on but then the light would start start flashing and there was no picture
