Television and Home Theater

Hi,

I am able to connect my Compaq Presario 2190US laptop to my TV (old Philipps $100 TV) using S-Video cable. But I cannot watch any video on my TV. When I play any .mpeg or .avi files using Real Player or Windows Media Player, I can only see the players on my TV but not the video content. The TV just shows a black screen. I was able to connect and see video a few times, but more often than not, the TV shows a blank screen. Can someone tell me why this happens, and what I could do to fix this? I have tried changing the Display settings but this hasn't helped.

hi, i searched the site but couldn't find something that answered my question. i have a 27" samsung CRT tv. about a week ago i was watching TV, then the screen went entire black except for a horizontal line straight across the middle of the TV. The line was about 1cm thick, and when i changed the channel, you could see a change in the line...almost as if the picture was only coming through that 1cm line. (I could also still hear the sound) but after about 20 seconds the TV shuts itself off. now it's starting to get more and more frequent.

My 32" RCA tv will not power up. I have tried diffent outlets, unplugging for an hour and then plugging in again and nothing helped. There were not warning signals that something was wrong. I had used the tv about an hour before its failure to turn on.
