Television and Home Theater

i have a 10 year old toshiba big screen tp55g60.the power button flashes on & off with no pic on the screen.i tried leaving it unplugged for a few minutes ,it worked the first time but has not since than.what should i do?

Hey all.

Last night I was watching television and fell asleep, leaving it on all night. When I woke up, the television was still on, but everything was black except for this thin, 1cm thick, horizontal line in the middle. I still had sound, and when I tried to change channels the colors of the line would change, as if the channel was coming through that thin line.

I've turned the power off and on, unplugged everything from it, flipped through all the channels, but it's the same.

I keep thinking I'm almost done with getting my new TV all setup, but I never seem to cross the finish line.

My latest wrestling match was against the IR relay function of my Media Center. I stayed up half the night trying to get it to work, to no avail. Everything seems good on the software side, but the IR transceiver (pictured here) that came with my Media PC doesn't seem to want to relay IR signals to the IR flasher I have plugged into it.
