Television and Home Theater

My 19" LXI tv suddenly went blank (only the title "VIDEO" appears on TV screen). I'm thinking that this was the result of pushing the wrong key on the universal remote, however I can't get a picture back on the screen despite a whole lot of effort. CAn you help?

I record talks, seminars etc., that are broadcast over fm radio frequency for the hearing impaired. I normally do it to cassette on a boom box. Then I load on to my computer and burn to CD. I am looking for a simpler method. I tried an MP3 recorder but have problem with the ear plugs acting as a small antenna at times which distorts the recording. Cannot find one that I could use. I need some advice. Can I do this an easier way, is there a mp3 recorder that would have a stronger transmission, is there a digital recorder that would eliminate my carrying a large boom box?

I am hoping this is a common problem with 6 year old big screen TV's. The TV shuts down after a few minutes. There is a blinking power button light afterwards. After I reset it (unplug), it does the same thing (turns off after a few minutes). This sounds like a simple part replaced on the board will do the trick. Anyone know what the part can be? thx
