focus on the smaller one so I

focus on the smaller one so I can see what it is. If the larger one wont fit, stand it up vertical.

Okay the latest is that I

Okay the latest is that I took the parts to a couple of electronics stores because I could not discern any markings on the outside of the oem resistor and further photography seemed useless. The consensus was that the size disparity did not matter that the specs were likely the same and in any event would probably not cause any damage if incorrect. The only likely problem that it just would not work if t is truly out of range. I installed the part with what seems to be solid joints, leaving a couple 0f mm of airspace between part and board for airflow. I plugged it in and when I pressed the power switch it did respond, and did not snap, sizzle, spark, glow red, smoke,  nor any other obvious signs of part failure aside from a whirring sound that I had heard before in conjunction with shut down. This I assume is the circuit breaker. Subsequent attempts at starting had no result. I have unplugged for the prescribed 4 hour rest period. Any ideas? Perhaps this was only one failed component in a chain.
