I have the same 9 blinks problem. I am going to purchase the two diodes and solder them myself. The only thing is I don't know what weight to use when soldering. Do you know which I should use?
http://www.aaroncake.net/electronics/solder.htm explains it all,go to radio shack and ask for solder, they may have flux cored solder but i like and use rosin cored 60/40 with a diameter of .032 for small things like what your going to use it for.
I have taken the G board off and am ready to purchase the diodes, but cannot seem to find the diodes on the G board. Can anyone help me??? I already have the manual but can't find them there either. The diodes from partstore.com don't look like anything that the board currently has. can anyone post a picture with a circle around where they are supposed to go or just state on what side of the board? thanks.
If you will look at the bottom of page 135 of the manual it shows you the # of the part that is the same # on the board,it says there are only four-4 on the G board
ahh the list continues at the top of the page of 135 on the right side, there are more than 4 there are 15,my mistake....
thank you for the clarification oldtech2.
previously you sent me instructions on how to fix my TV ('Mitsubishi WS65513 Blinking Green Light') and I was successful in bringing my TV back to life. Now my friend is having a problem with her TV. She has a Sony KP51WS520 and the red standby light is blinking 9 times. I understand that it may be the D6116 & D6301 on the G board - I was wondering if you had a set of illustrated instructions for this fix like you do for the Mitsubishi fix. If so, could you email me a copy at [email protected]?
hey larry can you send me a copy of that service manual too, my sony is doing the same thing, i already have diode 10erb20-tb5 to replace but now not sure where to put it :) thank you
Hi I also have a sony kp-51ws520 I get the 9 blinks code. I was curious if someone had service manual I get a copy of? I can't even find the two diodes your talking about 6116 and 6301. Help!
One end should have a stripe or band around it,mark on the board which end had the band and replace with the new ones the same way as the old ones came out.Electricity only flows through these one way youll know if you install them backwards i promise
I have been reading the thread and I too have a Sony KP-51ws520 with blinking lights. I have diodes and schematic but can't tell witch way the D6116 & d6117 diodes goes in. Does the cathode go on left or right? can't read the one's that are on the board or the service manual. Please if some one could answer this I would greatly appreciate it I don't want to break anything by putting in wrong.
There should be a plus or minus sighn on the board next to the contacts of the diode, other than that it would be hard to find the forward direction of a diode,if they are good you could pass a small amount of electricity through them and check it with a DMM= Digital Multi Meter.Or you could check them for continuity with a DMM the wrong way you will have high resistance the right way you wont if that makes any since.
Thanks.. I ended up using two 1N4007 and now the set is up and running.
It does not appear that these need to be high speed diodes..
The one is listed as 200v 60ns switch time.
Transformer nearby looks to be 60hz.... Any way it works..
Paid $20 for the KP-51WS520 at a yard sale..
*** Update... TV is still working with the 1N4007 diodes ***
Check http://www.johnlauder.com/References/ under manuals. i know i drop a copy on that folder long time ago. If not, google it as I know theres another copy out there somewhere. goodluck. sorry about the page, its not regularly maintained orupdated.
Hello,
I tried to go through all the posts but I didn't find anything related to my problem. My house got struck by lightning and now my HDMI port no longer works. All the other imputs work just fine. I can watch tv and it seems that all other functions work properly. Is fixing the HDMI post a simple board swap or will I have to troubleshoot it down to a component? Aslo, I tried to click on the links for the service manual in several posts and none of them work. Can someone post an updated and working link for the manual please?
Thank you,
<><
Can anyone send me the service manual? Larry your info has been great. I have the 9 blink problem but before I order the repair kit I would like to get the manual.
Thanks
THERE IS A SERVICE MANUAL AVAILABLE @ SERVICEMANUALS.NET FOR YOUR TV. FLASH CODES ARE EXPLAINED WITH PROBABLE CAUSES. PUT IN YOUR MAKE AND MODEL #, AND YOU CAN DOWNLOAD TO A LAPTOP OR TABLET. IT IS A PDF ADOBE READER FILE. OR YOU CAN PURCHASE THE CD FOR THE TV. I DID IT! GOOD LUCK!
A SERVICE MANUAL FOR YOUR MAKE AND MODEL# SHOULD HAVE THE INFORMATION YOU NEED TO UNDERSTAND THE CODES YOUR ARE GETTING. GO TO SERVICEMANUALS.COM. PUT IN THE INFORMATION FOR YOUR TV. DOWNLOAD OR PURCHASE THE CD SERVICE MANUAL. GOOD LUCK!
POSSIBLY YOU FRIED THE HDMI CIRCUIT BECAUSE YOU WERE VIEWING THE TV IN THAT MODE. IN HDMI MODE, YOUR SOUND AND VIDEO RUN THRU THAT CABLE. THE SURGE FROM THE LIGHTNING OVERLOADED THAT CIRCUIT. MAKE SURE YOU USE A QUALITY SURGE PROTECTOR BETWEEN YOUR WALL OUTLET AND YOUR TV. ONE WITH A HIGH JOULES RATING. A BOARD REPLACEMENT WOULD BE BEST. YOU DON'T KNOW THE EXTENT OF THE DAMAGE. HI DEF TV'S ARE DIFFICULT TO TROUBLESHOOT DOWN TO THE COMPONENT. TV REPAIRMEN REPLACE BAORDS TODAY. GOOD LUCK!
THE TV HAS A HIGH VOTAGE PROTECTION CIRCUIT THAT PROHIBITS VOLTAGES GETTING TOO HIGH. IF YOU HAVE THE SERVICE MANUAL, FOCUS ON THE HORIZONTAL CIRCUIT WHICH CONTROLS YOUR HIGH VOLTAGE FOR THE FLY BACK TRANSFORMER. COULD BE ATRANSISTOR, RESISTOR, ETC. STAY IN THIS AREA. GOOD LUCK!
IF YOU WANT YOUR OWN MANUAL, INSTEAD OF WAITING FOR OTHERS, TRY SERVICEMANUALS.NET. DOWNLOAD WHAT YOU NEED FAST! (IF AVAILABLE). GOOD PRICES TOO! GOOD LUCK!

You can find the service manual here:

Nine blinks means you need to replace D6116 and D6301 on power supply board.
You will need to be experienced with surface mount soldering techniques.
