What did you short out? It should not have smoked by only switching from one tube to another. Something got crossed, like maybe you bent over a pin or something on the CRT Socket? A wire might have come off of the socket and touched something. If the green board did light up the blue tube, then the green picture tube is probably bad in your TV set.
Disconnect the convergence IC's and see if the set comes on. If you need a service manual for this set you can go to the new technician's corner HERE at techlore.com and download on for free. Good Luck
SAMSUNG HCN4727W I need help too... I have a Samsung 42inch Projection with what I believe is a convergence issue. Was working Sunday and I turned my head and then I had a laid down hourglass screan with color seperation. I have read all the comment, but it not clear to me what do I replace? Fuses or board or amp. Please help me begin the run down. Thanks Jack
It is a HCN4727W sorry for not listing, Also I found a Conbergence board at Partstore.com BP95-0041B but it does not have STK's. What is STK and do I need it and it looks like and extra plug than mine and a different bottom clip plug... Please advise I am lost of what to do next
Did you follow the repair flow chart on page 5-3 of the service manual. You alsio need to check the plus and the minus supply voltages going to the CG-Amp board. Good Luck
Not on the convergence board man. Do you have a schematic for this set? If you do not, why? It is available here at techlore for a free download. I have mentioned it many times on this thread. It is available in the resources file at the top right of the home page and then click the technicians corner. Look in the main power supply for the plus and minus voltages. Make sure the power supply is feeding the convergence board the proper voltage then trace them back to the convergence board and see where they disappear.

Hi...I have the HCN473W and I'm having trouble with my convergence. I can adjust the red without problem, but the blue will not adjust at all. What can you suggest or recommend?
No they do not have them at radio shack.you maybe need to exchange the board? or get the manual from the technicians corner here on techlore's technicians corner. Good Luck
First thing you need to do is STOP TRYING TO ADJUST the TV set!!!You first need to go to the home page under the resources tab and go to the technicians corner and download a service manual . Then you need to order the complete convergence board from here http://www.techlore.com/forum/thread/18359/Samsung-HCN4727W-Convergence-..., Unless you are really good at soldering! then you can go to http://www.electronic-repair-kits.com/index.html, and get the two convergence IC's and replace them.

I looked up 5-3 No Raster is this the right page. Also what should be the output voltages of the CG Amp Board or where would I find it.
No you need the flow chart for the convergence. You need to check for the plus and minus 24 to 28 volts.
Your looking in the wrong place or your measyring the wrong voltage.
