hello,
I have a sony model KP-WV65700,after I turn on the tv the screen will flash green and then will power off,I have taken off the front cover and noticed before the tv turns off the CG board is arcing by the heat cover. If I turn down the green adjustment the problem seems to get better but the picture doesnt look right.I was thinking that I might need to replace th CG board, thank you for any help.
On the CG board it looks as if there is an amber color flash on the backside of the board, thank you for any help.
hi , first of all i m sorry for my english , i m french from quebec , canada .
i got the same problem then you but it was on the red tube , i call sony and every electronic company in north america and they told me they end the production of cathodic tube for ever to replaced by acl , oled and every new technology tv.
the cathodic red tube is no longer available the same for the green and blue one.
the only solution for me is to arrass sony , they ask me to send my bill of the purchase of my sony kp-65wv700 , i did may 26-05-2008 , i wait for the reply , the guy at the custommer support told me they make a deal (kind of discount on a new tv purchase , going up to 35% reduction) i really dont now what they gonna offer me , may be i get news in the next week.badly we are not the same whit this problem , somebody near montreal where i leave got the same problem , i tell him the samething , wait for my call and will se whats sony gonna do with my problem, the same for you , when i get news from them it will be a pleasure for me to tell you. jack.
Thank you for the reply,I going to replace the CG board and see what happens, let me know when you hear from sony, thank you for your help.

WOULD ANYONE KNOW WHY OR WHAT WOULD CAUSE THE CG BOARD IS FLASHING??THANKS FOR ANY HELP.
sounds like you might have a Coolant Leak The CRT'S have a Cooling Fluid and can develop a small leak and let Cooling Fluid run down the Tube and Short the CRT Socket Remove the CG Board from CRT and LOOK VERY close at the White Spocket look down in the pin holes for any Fluid It will look like water if there is Fluid you will have to Fix the Leak before replacing the Board or The Fluid will short the NEW Board to.
I CHECKED THE CG BOARD AND DID'NT SEE ANY FLUID,WHEN I ADJUST THE SCREEN VOLTAGE UP FOR THE GREEN CRT,THE CG BOARD STARTS TO FLASH AN AMBER COLOR AND I GET A GREEN SCREEN ON THE TV,WHEN I BACK THE VOLTAGE BACK DOWN TV WILL WORK,BUT THE PICTURE DOES'NT LOOK TO GOOD.THANKS FOR ALL THE HELP!!
is the Flash in the White Socket on the CG board or in the tip of the glass CRT tube ?
No,it's on the backside of the CG board, right in front of the heatsink cover, there is a clear glass tube on the board. I removed the front cover and when i adjust the green focus voltage up i can see the flash.when i turn the green voltage back down problem goes away but picture not clear. Thanks for your help. jeff
allmost forgot your Model # is KP-65WV700 Not KP-WV65700 and the part # for the CG board is A1401386A and is $28.11 & Sony Shows its in stock ITS worth trying a new Board if you had a CRT tester then you would know for Sure if its the Board or a BAD GREEN Tube .
hi , Dwray , i see all your comments to help jeff with his problem , may be you can help me with mine. With your comments i m not sure i check everything on my sony kp-65wv700 to be sure if its completely dead.Let me explain what is my problem , for 2 or 3 months before the red tubes goign down there where kind of red arch on the screen and sometimes it became full flash red screen and then it get normal , 2 weeks ago the red color of the tv just stop now the tv still play but only with the green and blue tubes only , so i open the back pannel and on the cg board (the card directly connect to the crt tube)they where a kind of orange led or neon(sony technician told me)was on , like i told you the tv still work but without the red tube , now this led or neon is down , so do you know wath i could it be ? thank you. (still sorry for my english , i m french.
hi , jeff , sony finally give me a call , they offer me a kdl-52 inches for 1750.00 ,with a 4 years full waranty , i m gonna think about it , thats a final offer for my sony 65 , no big deal , by the way i see the picture you send i dont realy understand whats the problem with the flash can you explain 1 more time please. thank you.
thanks for the update, what happens is when I adjust the focus voltage up for the green CRT,the picture looks good, then I see a green screen on the tv ,hear a poping sound, and a flash on the CG board and then tv screen will clear,I can still hear the sound but no picture,if I adjust volatge back down,tv works fine but has a bad picture.I will be relpacing the CG board this week,I will keep you posted.thanks for your help. Jeff
jericho 2 things that can cause your problem is IC9101 (TDA6120Q) on the CR board (CG is for the Green & CB is for the Blue) Your Problem will be with the CR board OR your RED TUBE is BAD Hard to Tell without You having a CRT Tube tester I would order the CR board and give it a try Part # A1401385A & retails for $28.11 its a 50/50 chance it fit your problem you want be out a ton of money if it truns out to be the TUBE is Bad even cheaper then a Service call From a Service Tech Most are $75-$100
just recieve your message dwray ,good idea to try that , i m gona try to order the part number you give me andmake a try with it ,ty for your time soon i get the
cr board and fixed i get back to let you know what happen,ty. Jack
If you have troble finding the board Here is SONY Direct Parts http://servicesales.sel.sony.com/ecom/accessories/web/index.jsp
they do not ship in canada , i have to call sony canada and... $68.00 , yes its true , but i have to try! they are crooks... ty dwray , gonna have in about one week. jack.
You could just simply switch the green board from the green tube to the red CRT. If the set comes on the board is bad, if it does the same thing the tube is bad.
bad idea to try the cr board , you where wrong ! maybe i try to switch the tube like larry told me.
who can told me why this orange led is on , on the cr board ?
it is NOT an LED it is a neon lamp and I can tell you but I cannot told you.
If that Neon light is on, the tube is most likely shorted, did you say the neon light was on before?
hi larry , its a neon , ok , but now it did the same then the other cr board , the neon is dead now , the kid still playing xbox 360 on it , and now the neon is dead (off) were am i have to look for the short ? what can it be ? jack
I SAID it could be the CRT board OR the TUBE ! So you tried the CRT Board and that was not the Problem SO SPEND THE MONEY AND HAVE A SONY SERVICE CENTER CHECK IT OUT !!
np , sony already give me a good deal an i accepted , a bravia kdl-52w4100 ,new 2008 model , a 1200.00$ rebate for my old kp65(not so bad) , that was not the crt , THAT WAS THE TUBE , im a electric specialist in routing aerospace cable(bombardier aerospace) with a lot experience in electronic(not a specialist)but a lot of experience in electronic and just speaking with a sony tech about the symptoms on my tv , he told me its even not necessary to do a service call at all , hes sure its the tube , gonna keep this big 65 in a corner somewhere in my basement and wait the rest of the 65 in this world start to sell for parts on internet !thank you for your help. jack
LOL, That is true man. he did say that! I woould have switched the sockets befor spending any hing though!
Jack, the tube is bad make no mistake man, replace the the bad tube!
ok, finally received the CG board from sony,it was on backorder, replace the CG board, adjusted the green pod, problem with picture fixed,no more green flashing line on my TV,THANKS FOR ALL THE HELP.
Jeff
How do you go about replacing the CG board, is it as simple as yanking the old one out and sticking the new one in or do I need to adjust some settings before hand, such as the voltage for the CG board or some system settings.
Thanks
