Then you should know that the CRT (Cathode Ray Tube) IS THE TUBE.

That's because you've already replaced the board, so he used a simple process of elimination (as Dwray suggested you do) to determine that it could only be the CRT, had you not replaced the board then a service call may have been needed to determine which was at fault.

You may want to turn the CRT upside down and tap around the neck with the back of a screwdriver (not hard enough to break it but close), that will SOMETIMES fix the problem. If you can figure out exactly where the short is on the CRT then you may be able to burn it out with a capacitor.
