Samsung HCN4727w Convergence problem

We have Samsung HCN4727w bought in 2003, paid $1700.   It started to show double images, arrow lines on top and bottom.  Researched the web which led me to this site.  It seemed we have a convergence problem.   Opened back of TV the other day, it was lala~~ wonderland to me.  Called samsung certified repair center.  Just to diagnose the problem will cost us $110; to fix the problem, roughly $300-500.   I think the price of this same new TV is $700-800?   I'm not an electronic techie; computer, yes.  Do you think I should try to replace BP95-00142p myself at least or shop for new TV?   I really need your advise.

If the board is available as

If the board is available as a complete board with the IC's on them, yes, it is not a hard replacement to do.  And I did look up this model number and part number, and yes it is the complete convergence board.  But you may need to call in the pro to adjust the set for you, at least if this set has the magic or perfect focus feature.  If you do not care about that not working, and there are no Circuit protectors blown out, you should be able to swap out the convergence board, and have a happy watching time for a few more years.  Good Luck, and please let us know what you decided to do to get this TV set working and what had to be done.

Larry, thank you very much

Larry, thank you very much for your advise, it worked!!!!!

Ordered complete convergence board, BP95-00142P Convergence AMP PCB $108.44, from www.samsungparts.com    Found better price on the web store but didn't want to take a risk.  It arrived within 3 days.   Took me about 30 min. to replaced the board.  Turned TV on and it worked!  I was sooo happy.

Convergence adjustment is reqired after replacing the board.  Otherwise, alignment is about 80% I would say.  My family was happy with as it was since we've been watching with double images for a while. :-)   I also bought service manual as you recommended to someone else's post.   Did manual adjustment using service manual.  I had to adjust Green->Red->Bule in order.  It took me several hours though...and several trials.  Not too bad, just need lots patient.  Make sure to save the change, otherwise you will loose what you have done.

I spent total of $155 and fixed the problem.  Without your help and others who posted the messages I was not able to.   thanks, to all.

Hi there,

Hi there,

I have a Samsung HCN4226W that is having similar problems.  The colours are all messed up and the screen goes back and forth between green, blue, red and black.  I read some comments off of different forums and then called Samsung for their advice.  Everything seemed to point to a convergence issue so I ordered a new board and replaced it.  This didn't seem to help--I've heard that you might need to manually adjust the convergence or initiate the perfect focus setting--does anyone know more about this?  Maybe I misdiagnosed the problem or messed up the installation.  I'd appreciate any advice I can get!

Thanks!

Sarah

Hmm... After replacing the

Hmm... After replacing the entire convergence board I was able to watch; three basic colors are not perfectly aligned but 3D like images went away.   Auto focus did not work as there is no perfect setting stored after I replaced the board.    I bought service manual prior to replacing the board so I adjusted manually.  Even though when manual adjustment was not perfect the picture quality was better after I replaced the board.   This reminded me what Larry asked me, share the copy, but unfortunately I have hard-copy.

The fact that your problem still exists after replacing the board, I wonder you still have other bad parts?  Hope Larry can help you. :-)    Can't promise you but I will try to post "manual adjustment" information off of service manual so you can try at least.

Larry Dillon
It explains in the service

It explains in the service manual how to do the perfect focus adjustment. You need to STORE the perfect focus adjustments so the TV set has a reference to adjust to. The perfect focus adjustment is nothing more then a memory that when the perfect focus adjustment button is pressed, those stored values are then programed into the electronic convergence. It is a preset convergence. If the convergence is still way out, just like it was before you replaced the board, you possibly could have other issues. I have seen resistors, and pico fuses blow out when these convergence IC's blow out. If the convergence does work but is out, you need to do a convergence alignment on this TV set. You cannot simply I'm afraid replace a board and all is well. It is not that easy. You will have to be sure that the plus and minus voltages are on the IC's and that there are no open feedback resistors resistors. Good Luck

Thank you both so much for

Thank you both so much for your help. I have the service manual so I will try the perfect focus--if that doesn't work I think I'll call a professional since I don't think I am qualified to mess around anymore than I have! :)

Hi I suddenly have a problem

Hi I suddenly have a problem with my Samsung HDMI my model # is LNR328W. It just started I just purchased a PS3 and my Cable box has a HDMI plug in so I bought I a high end splitter for my HDMI cable. So my problem is that I no longer get a signal from any of my HDMI cables. from any of my products i tried to see if it was the splitter so i plugged in each device with no avail. I called a TV repair place he seems to think the HDMI board needs to be replace can I do this myself and where do I get this board. But I also noticed the HDMI plug-in in the back of my TV seems very lose so i wonder if it's that what are4 your thoughts Thanks-Michael

Hey I'm having the same

Hey I'm having the same problem as michael with my samsung LN-R328W. The HDMI connection stopped working after about 2 months, however I just used a different connection and its been about 2 and a half years now. I've been reading other posts and this seems to be a common problem with the tv. All the posts with the problem says that the screws are missing in the HDMI connection and its loose. Mine is the same. Going to have to call samsung again and try to get them to extend my warranty as well... However if anyone has any suggestions I'd love to hear them. Thanks
Oozy

Well...after calling Samsung

Well...after calling Samsung to complain about my HDMI port I said to them that this shouldn't happen especially this soon into owner ship not even 2 years and they extended my warranty its seems that it seems to be a common problem with this model. So after talking to their ECR department and then setting up a service time for them to come to my house they came and replaced the board completely. It seems that the missing screws are for the The HDMI cable itself when they originally starting making the HDMI ports they had the sam Idea as DVI inputs which have screws with the cable but the makers of HDMI didn't include the screws so there you have it. Oh it seems that the new board they gave me had a reinforcement with the HDMI input on the board so it would seem like Oozy said this problem has happened before. So Oozy call Samsung directly. The ecr # is 1-800-522-7341. That goes for anyone who has had a TV for under 3 years I would complain HARD act very Angry and you will get results. Hope this helps-Michael

You are all posting all

You are all posting all different model numbers in different threads. Maybe you should start a thread with the right model number?  But, If no one has the manual to share, the best way to get it is to go to www.servicemanuals.net Good Luck

Hello, new on the forum. I have a Samsung TV Model # HCN4727W. I have read this thread, and it sounds like I have a convergence board problem as well. I'm wondering if this board will work for me?

That is the SUB convergence

That is the SUB convergence board. You need the board WITH the STK IC'S. This is not your problem I'm afraid.
