The unit will not turn on.  The outlet it is plugged into has power.  Is there a fuse in this unit?

These units have fuses, but

These units have fuses, but that is not usually the problem.  Is there a standby light on?  If not, then there is a problem with the standby powersupply.  Without the standby, the unit will never turn on.  If the standby light is on, then the unit may be in "protection" mode and not turn on.  Usually when in the "protect" mode, puching the power switch will cause a click followed by another.  This is the unit trying to start and shutting down.  Please post info about the standby and we'll try to help further.

I replaced T1AH250V fuse the day after I posted this problem and it has worked ever since. Once you have the cover off the fuse is very easy to locate.  I had switched the breaker to the outlet off by mistake.  I guess my old surge protector wasn't working.

I'm having the same problem I returned it to the store they replced it and now the new one did the same. I have searched for a fuse (T1AH250V) but haven't had any luck. Where did you find one?

I have a TH-C30. I had the same problem where the unit just stopped working - no standby light and no recognition of power at all. After checking this forum and another, I opened the unit, found the ceramic fuse where the power comes in and went to Radio Shack. They have a T1AL250V fuse pack that is a 1 amp, 250 volt, 5 X 20 mm SLOW BLOW ceramic fuse which is a better fuse for this common problem. Their RS number is 270-1063 and a pack of 4 costs about $3. Put new fuse in and the problem was solved. Perhaps the C50 uses a different fuse but Radio Shack can help you get the correct slow-blow ceramic fuse for your unit. Take in the old fuse...

The repair took minutes - 3 screws on the back and two screws on each side. Lift the cover from the back (it is slip-hinged on the front) and replace the ceramic fuse. It slips out with a little help and the new one snaps in place.

I have the mod 30 but suspect the same configuration for your C-40. See my August 08 post above for description of cover removal (unplugged). After cover is off, look right next to the point where the power cord brings the power in and you will see the small fuse in a metal fuse-holder that is frequently discussed. You might need a small screwdriver to pry the fuse loose/out. This is not a big issue to handle on your own. Also see my description of the fuse and wehere to buy a replacement.

I purchased a JVC TH-C50 a little over a year ago. A couple months ago it worked perfect then one day I went to turn it on and although it has the standby light on, it doesn't work. The drawer for the DVD's doesn't open up, the FM/AM radio doesn't work ........ nothing works. Unfortunately the warranty is over with.

I really can't afford to take it to a JVC "authorized" repairshop.

Hi everyone. I purchased the slow blow glass fuse: 1 am 250 volt with no luck. Mine is ThC50

I did see it light up red then dead. Is this guy dead or does the fuse take some time to kick in?

thanx

There are cases where the

There are cases where the fuse blows unnecessarily. Replacing the fuse usually fixes that case. In your case, there is a real problem inside that is causing the fuse to blow to prevent further damage. This may be a simple problem or not. Without taking measurements and examining the actual system it is difficult to say. These are decent systems and are probably worth an estimate fee at a local shop. Try to get a detailed repair estimate and perhaps we can walk you through the actual repair using that estimate information.

Just get the ceramic slo-blow

Just get the ceramic slo-blow (slow to blow) fuse at Radio Shack (see other comments in the TH-C30 section). That will (should) resolve your problem.

I came home recently to find

I came home recently to find my one year old JVC TH-C50 had lost power. When I unplugged and then plugged back in, it started flashing alternately between the red power light and a blue light that looks to be illuminating the DVD trays. I replaced the fuse with a slo-blow (although didn't suspect it as the cause) and still see this alternating light show. Any thoughts/suggestions appreciated.

I recently bought a TH-C50 to replace my TH-C20. Seems to be working but I can not get any sound out of my speakers. Can the TH-C20 speakers attach to the TH-C50 receiver? I can get sound out of my TV. The DVD player is working. Everything seems to work but the Speakers. I installed a different cable but no luck.

the Slo Blo fuse from radio

the Slo Blo fuse from radio shack worked perfectly so far. Got the glass one they did not have ceramic in the shelf.

thanks for all the great advice... tH-C60 1 amp 250v fuse exactly where you said it would be.

Back up and running!

I think they will not work

I think they will not work properly. I am just guessing but I think the ohms are different and I think the old speakers connected to the sub-woofer via proprietary cable and the new systems speakers connect direct to the amp. Could be wrong but this is my best guess after a few years...

I just replaced the T1AH250V ceramic fuse from my JVC TH-C50 system for a new slow-blow fuse from Radio Shack, but unfortunately the system is now turning on and off every two seconds. What is wrong? Any thoughts or suggestions? I really appreciate it.
