I admit that I am computer illiterate and need help figuring out how to connect a tuner and a computer to this massive monitor. I have been told that I need tv card for the computer (Compaq 6000)but I don't know what kind.
I have a Sony STR_D990 receiver.
Any help would be appreciated or any push in the right direction...........thanks

Using Sony PVM-4300 45" Monitor-----HELP!!!!!!
Cool project. This is the kind of stuff I love to do. Can I make (blank) work with (blank)? How fun! Here's some info that may help you.
First, I need to know What you mean by a "tuner"? Are you referring to the Sony Receiver?
To make the connection between your computer and your set, you'll need to purchase a 15-pin VGA to 5-wire RGB cable. You can usually get them at a local A/V shop or online. I recommend the Straight Wire brand of cables if you can find a dealer in your area.
You'll want to connect the TV to the 5-wire RGB input near the bottom of the jack pack, which is compatible with a 31.5KHz signal. This roughly translates into 640x480 at 60Hz on your computer, though you may be able to set it at 720x480.
You do not need a TV card for the computer unless you wish to use your computer as a TV tuner, or to record TV programs onto the computer hard drive.
Good Luck. Post back with updates as to your progress.
