Receivers and Audio Components

I have a Sony HCD-GS300AV bookshelf stero system. When I power it up affter about 3 seconds it shows an error on the display "push power protect".  There is no such button on the outside of the unit. The manual says nothing about it nor does Sony's website. If I push the stop,clear and display buttons at the same time it will run the demo program. I have located 3 fuses on the circuit board just above the cd carriage and they all seem to be fine. I will be greatly thankful for any help. Thanks.

Hello, I hope I chose the right forum?

 I have an old "Lloyd" turntable with built in radio and tape recorder. It works very fine except the volume button is unstable - meaning - it goes too loud or too low and some static noise when it's touched.

Otherwise, if I leave it at whatever level of sound and don't touch it, it plays beautifully.

Is this something a layperson like me could fix somehow?

my amp for my high make a noise only when my can is on when i first put it in it ever did that it just started doing that  so what could it be
