DVD interfering with TV picture

The TV is a Schneider STV 1406T and the (brand new) DVD player is a Bush DVD 2041. (I bought the DVD player for an elderly lady in an old people's home).

I connected the TV and DVD player with the supplied scart lead. I inserted a DVD into the player and the TV switched automatically to AV and played the DVD. Fantastic!

Then I switched from AV to TV but the TV picture is not right. There is a horizontal and vertical thick black line on the picture and the picture scrolls around. I checked the scart lead and tried again.

DVD and VCR recording combination

Any recommendations for a combination DVD recorder and VCR combination? Which are the easiest to create DVDs from outside camcorder source?

Panasonic TV, VCR and Digital Set Top Box set up

I have a Panasonic TX-32PL1 TV, NV-HD630B VCR and a DVB Digital Set Top box. How do I connect them and set them up so I can record one digital channel whilst watching another ? The instruction manuals do not specifically refer to digital boxes, only satellite receivers, which I don't have.

TV plays DVD movies in black and white only

When I play a DVD on my 3-month old Magnavox VHS/DVD player, the picture on the Phillips TV is only in Black and White. If I play a VHS movie there is full color. I do not have an S-video connection on the TV and can use only RCA connections. The Magnavox replaced a Sylvania VHS/DVD player which was doing the same. The Magnavox has played for 3-months fine then started black and white. I originally suspected the TV connection was bad; however if that was the case wouldn't the VHS movie play only in Black and White? I have double checked the connections and they are snug.

Unable to copy from Hi8 camcorder to DVD on Sony RDR-VX511

I recently purchased a Sony RDR-VX511 VCR/DVD recorder. I also recently purchased a Sony CCD-TRV138 Hi8 camcorder solely to transfer old HI8 tapes to a DVD format. I am unable to record a DVD from the new camcorder. I am using the correct DVDs (DVD+R that came with the DVD recorder). I had no problems recording a DVD with the one-touch VCR to DVD option. If I record a minute or so of a Hi8 tape it seems to be fine and playable. However, when I record an hour in high quality or 2 hours in standard quality the tape gets to the end.

Error Message On DVD LCD

I have a Sony DVD/VCR player that has not been used very much....only about 6 months old, however out of warranty.
After my electricity went out one day I now have "error" displaying on the LCD. I tried to play a dvd yesterday and received a message on the tv screen that the disc could not be read. I tried several dvd's and received the same message. I tried unplugging and re-plugging.... same result.
What could be the problem??????
Thank you for your response.
