Video Playback / Recording Devices

I have a RCA True Flat Combo Tv. Recently I tried watching a movie on it. It would go through the previews fine but when you pressed play on the disk menu, the screen would go black. Now the screen is staying black even when you turn the dvd player off and on again, and it wont eject my disk (which is of course rented, I better not get fined...)

I have one of these.  Recently, i discovered that when i turn my player on, it goes straight to the DVD screen, but i have no disc in it.  For some reason, i can no longer get the VCR screen to be able to record movies and shows on VHS.  It does this everytime i turn it on.  Ive tried everything that i could think of.  If anyone can give me some help as to how to get it back on the VCR screen and off the DVD screen everytime i turn the player on, id greatly appreciate it.

I have a Zenith XBV443 DVD/VCR combo.

It mutes "offensive" language in DVDs (don't know if it does the same on the VCR) and can't get rid of that feature.

Bought it second hand. Could it be rigged? If so, how can I change that?

I am tired of having to read lips any time the f word or the G word or any "offensive" or non-politically-correct word seem to appear. It takes away not only the word but a whole phrase.
