dvd not recording

I have a espejo r311i dvd recorder and I went to record something and I thought I had pushed the record button but on the display blocked came up, when I put in a blank disc it says reading disc then it opens the tray, it also does the same on a disc that has already been recorded on. I cannot find anything in the book to unblock what ever it is I have blocked. Can somebody please help.
