Magnavox tv with distorted picture and won't turn off

I have an old Magnavox tv model # RR2541 A401 chassis # 25Y100-00AA when I turn it on it has sound and the picture is distorted. When I hit the power button to turn it off the sound goes out and the picture straightens up and stays on for a couple of minutes then it shuts off. Any help would be appreciated.
