Television and Home Theater

We purchased a new 50" magnavox plasma tv and picture is fine through digital cable box.  But when we switch over to dvd the picture is either red/pink or blue.  We redid the cables several times to make sure they were hooked up right but they are color coded so its pretty hard to mess up.  Is there something wrong with the tv or are we hooking it up wrong?  Any help greatly appreciated!

Hello...have a circa 1994/1995 Pioneer Rear Projection, SD-P5575 television.  Recently, the PICTURE has become suseptible to loud sound or bumps to the TV.  When either of these events happen (usually it's the bass from a movie/TV show I'm watching), the sides of the screen begin to collapse in, there is an audible buzzing noise (while the screen is collapsing), and then the screen jumps back to normal.
