Television and Home Theater

My Toshiba tv which is around 32" (i think) went pitch black about a year ago. Its around 10-15 years old.

 Does anyone know why it went pitch black and how much it would cost to fix it? Is it worth it to fix it or should I just buy a new tv?

 Any info/advice is appreciated. Thanks in advance!

I have an Optoma h27 front projector and everything was fine until about a week or two ago. I turned on the projector and whenever I have the (TV) on which is coming through a dvi connection on the projector and an hdmi connection on the cable box the picture is huge. the heads of people are cut off at the top and the picture is cut off at the bottom as well. when I hit the guide button the small picture is diplayed correctly.

I have a Sharp 32 inch TV (model 32L-S500), the remote control and front A/V inputs do not work. Actually they worked fine until my son plugged a game system into the A/V inputs one day. The inputs and remote sensor are located next to each other on the front of the cabinet, I suspect that something was burned out? Is this something that I could attempt to repair on my own if I had a service manual and could locate the part(s)? Any info or assistance would be greatly appreciated. I could not find anything on the site that related to this problem.
