Television and Home Theater

I have an older Proscan 36" projection TV, MN PS27108.  I'm not currently connected to any type of external operating system such as cable or satalite.  I just want to be able to run my DVD player through it.  In order to do that the Television has to be set on channel 00.  I don't have a remote that works.

I have an Akai CFT2726 (Walmart purchase 2005) 27" flat-screen CRT TV.
Sometimes a black rectangle the size of the setup menu appears and
covers the video. It removes when you hit the "exit" button on the
remote, but quickly reappears. It looks like a mask for the setup
menu, or a blank menu. The TV uses Konka remote codes, so may be of
their manufacture.
Help appreciated.

I purchased a television from the pawn shop and it came with no remote. I now have cable and need a remote to set up my channels. I purchased a universal remote and their customer service rep told me I need to press menu button on my television. My problem is I don't see a menu button! Can you please tell me where it is located. My model # is vv8220. It is a Quasar TV/VCR combo. Thanks for your help.
