Help, I think I fried my tv

Hello,

     I think I fried my tv.  I was unhooking the cable and a heard an aweful sound.  Now my tv will turn on for a split second, then shut off.  I have tried unplugging the power cord for 10 minutes and that will not work.  It is a Phillips/magnavox and I have had it since 1996, which I bought it new then.  Any thoughts here?  Do you think I fried it?  Is there a reset or something?  HELP!!!!!

Dead RP TV?

Yesterday my Akai PT4298HDX/SMS (basically a Samsung HCM4216W) died.  We were watching TV and poof...the picture shrunk to nothing.  Now all I get is a blinking timer LED (10 times in case you're counting). 

I've done a ton of reading on various forums, trying to diagnose the issue (is it convergence related?)...

Any tips, thoughts, or general help would be appreciated.

If anyone can suggest some ideas, that would be great ...

 

1) KONKA 32" TV - TV screen shows volume control bar constantly and is at the highest setting. Vol - Down button just causes the bar to flicker near the top end without any effect ... any ideas?

 

2) Phillips 13" VCR Combo  - will no longer respond to remote - changed batteries, changed remotes, no luck. Can't find the sensor on the TV either ... any ideas?

Another Toshiba convergence problem

Hello...My horizontal blue convergence line is way off and will not move, in the menu set up mode. The verticle moves up and down ok and the red works fine. Problem started when colour went bad all of a sudden; then screen went black and red power light flashes. Disconnected power for over-night. Restarted ok and stays on but blue is way off. In the service convergence mode the horizontal blue lines are badly bowed on left and right sides and progressivly straighten going towards centre of screen. Please; what has caused this and can I repair it.
