Dead RP TV?

Yesterday my Akai PT4298HDX/SMS (basically a Samsung HCM4216W) died.  We were watching TV and poof...the picture shrunk to nothing.  Now all I get is a blinking timer LED (10 times in case you're counting).

I've done a ton of reading on various forums, trying to diagnose the issue (is it convergence related?)...

Any tips, thoughts, or general help would be appreciated.

Did you ever fix the problem?

Did you ever fix the problem? Mine had the same deal and spent $400+ for a tech to change the motherboard. Guess what -- it happened again. I'm trying to find info
on how to correct the problem myself.

been a while, I don't recall

been a while, I don't recall exactly which parts I replaced. Basically, I took it all apart, verified that the green and blue colors where causing the problem, ordered the replacement parts from Samsung (had a bit of a challenge finding exactly the right ones) and the put it all back together...think I spent ~5 hours total (including investigation) and <$100 in parts.

It's been working well since...does have a slight convergence issue in the upper left corner that is noticeable when watching letterbox...but not distracting from the viewing experience enough to warrant replacing it.

I replaced the CG-AMP board, got a picture of it... if you take the cover off the back of the TB, it's on the right hand side, 1/2 way up. You'll see to parts, STK392-40, that are soddered to the board. I replaced the whole board ... good thing I never throw any email away!
