Television and Home Theater

ok. so my brother left his t.v for me to try and fix, he says that if i fix it, its mine to keep , so first thing i do was i turned it on, nothing shows up, and it blinks 3 times stop, 3 times stop, and it continues like this, so i decided to open up the T.V, and this is what i saw

2 wires disconnected. red and white, the white one looked like the solder melted off of the 2nd screen shot

Hi guys - I have bought a new 42inch LCD (TECO TL4291RW) and connected it to an HD DVD player. When playing back, even non-HD DVD's, the screen will every so often turn blue for 5 - 10 seconds and then return to the playback. Ive tried upgrading the HD leads to higher spec with no luck. I have a playstation 3 connected via an HD lead on the other HD input on the tv and it does the same thing - during the game every so often the screen goes blue and then after approx 5 seconds the picture comes back. Any ideas??? Thanks

i was recently given a magnavox 46 inch tv. model ptv620-ah01. maybe it's just that it is a big screen tv but the picture is not as sharp as a smaller tube type. i have messed with the settings continually but get nowhere. also it is hard to see when the scene is dark. i've tried adjusting the brightness but then it gets to bright.
