NEED HELP...

I OWN A 50 INCH RCA  DLP HDTV MADE IN 04

MODEL : HD50LPW42

PROBLEM: WHEN PLUGGED IN IT POPS LIKE ITS STRIKING THE LAMP,  THEN I HEAR A WHIRRING SOUND ( COLOR WHEEL?) THEN  IN FRONT ONCE PLUGGED IN A I HAVE A STEADY GREEN LIGHT  FOR ABOUT 8 SECONDS THEN I GET 5 GREEN BLINKS, THE WHIRRING AGAIN THEN IT STOPS WHIRING  AN GREEN TURNS SOLID CONSTANT....  IM UNSURE WHAT TO DO... IM BY FAR NO ELECTRICIAN BUT SMART ENUFF TO FOLLOW SCHEMATICS IF NEEDED TO FIND THE ROOT OF THIS PROBLEM...

My Panasonic PT-56WX53G keeps on turning itself off. I get three flashes on the on-off LED, but no picture then it turns itself off. CAn anyone help??? Whazupp here?

Was wondering if someone out there can help me out. I would like to know what exactly are axial conductors and how can you test them. I see they have lines or bands just like resistors but what exactly do they do and how can you test to see if they are good.
