i have a problem if anyone can help, so i called a tech out to check my tv, he wants to charge me 550.00 to fix it.

basically my tv started with a line about 3 to four inches in width on the left side running down, and it is grey about 3 or 4 months ago, now about 2 days ago, i turned it on and the image started freezing and it went out now its all different colors on screen and see image of channel in background, what can this be Help !!!!!!!!!!!!!

32" TOSHIBA with horizontal lines at top 1/3 of screen

What are the likely problems? Are they fixable? I am in the process of trying my first flyback replacement on a RCA 31" so if I can get this Toshiba for nothing I would like to try to fix it, if it is not too major.

Thanks for any suggestions and help,

Mitsubishi VS-50502 discharging high voltage?

Hi,

I want to start by stating that I was trained years ago as a computer technician. I have discharged many CRTs in my day. I understand that the television holds a charge even when turned off and unplugged.

I have to remove the circuit board on my Mitsubishi VS-50502. I want to be sure I go about discharging the high voltage safely and correctly. I have not done this before on a rear projection television, but I assure you I will be very careful. I absolutely respect electricity - especially 35,000 volts!
