toshiba 61HX70

We have a friend who was watching their Toshiba  61HX70 when the screen went squiggley (diagonal lines across the screen) then she head a low pop then the screen went blank. She shut it down, restarted it and the screen was still black although she still had sound. They shut it down, unplugged it, let it cool down, then plugged it back in and tried again. Same result. We took the covers off and looked for any blown capacitors but found none (that we could see). Looking for a service manual and advice.

Thanks,

Jim

Hitachi 51F510, Shutting down on Power up.

Hi fellow experts.  I need to start this trread to see if anyone else out there is experiencing similar troubles with their Hitachi RPTV model 51F510 with the shutting down on power up..problem.  Here is a bried description of my problem and what I did:

When you plug it in, it clicks off immediately like there is something loading down the power supply. I have removed the PCB assembly and checked all the glass and pico fuses. (even the hidden ones) but all appears ok and no sign of shorted components or smoke.

RCA MM36110 TV Monitor

I have an RCA MM36110 TV Monitor I have had for some time, but hasn't received a lot of use. After a recent thunderstorm and resulting power outage, it could only receive channel 1. When you do a channel scan, the new channel number is displayed but the channel won't change. I have tried removing power in the event it was a micro lock up problem, but the problem still exists. Any ideas on how fixable the problem is before I decide to trash the set? It is a good TV and will display HDTV when used with an external decoder.
