Television and Home Theater

I pushed the power button, the green light came on for about one second, the set 'clicked' and went off. No picture, sound, anything. I unplugged the set for awhile and tryed again, with the same result. Can anyone help?

I've already repaired this thing twice, so I'm well acquainted with it's innards.

What I want to know, is if it's possible in any way to somehow modify the TV to accept a resolution higher than 1280x720 through the PC input port.

It's really disappointing that it can't, because it's not like a VGA port can't output a resolution higher than that, and the TV is obviously capable of 1080i resolution.

I could attempt to connect my computer to it through the HDMI port, but I lack both a DVI to HDMI adapter, and/or an HDMI cord.
