Hi. I have a rear projection Hitachi 46W500 set with a picture in black and white. Strange enough, the built-in DVD player will play in color as will any HDMI input device too. Direct cable connection, component connections, and S-video connections are all black and white. Another strange phenominon is that the PiP plays in color too. Every so often the picture will turn back to color but it lasts for a variable amount of time from 1 minute to several hours.
