Television and Home Theater

channel and volume buttons dont work and the channel is stuck on 53. power button still works but remote wont work either.thought about using hair dryer but not sure...any advice

This is an older model toshiba television. When the power button on the remote is pressed there is no response, no picture, no sound and the lights on the front of the set would light up.

When the problem first started and the power button on the remote was pressed the picture and sound did not immediately come on; however, it would blink with an undefinable picture for about 5 or 10 minutes then the sound and picture would appear. Now there nothing, no sound or picture or blinking.

I have a 19 in Sanyo Television that has sound but no picture. Any ideas as to what is wrong with it?? Thanks
