Television and Home Theater

I have a RCA color 27 inch TV set with no raster or sound. The set seems to be in shutdown. Any ideas?

I have a 36in philips tv. the remote only wants to work some of the time.very irritation. tried a universal which works even less of the time. batteries new. tv is 4 yrs old. question is could it be something wrong with a sensor or something in the tv that allows the remote to just work when it wants to. was going to buy a new remote from philips but hate to blow the money if it is the tv that is screwy. tv is too big to take to shop. megga bucks to get a guy to the house. any advice or help appreciated. Also how can i erase the channel block.

This is the 2nd time TV has died. Problems began about a month ago when screen was turning blue, picture shifted 3 inches to the left. Before completely going, you could not access tv settings to set up sleep timer, picture color, etc. The settings menu was non-existent. Now, you can only hear the tv turn on when pressing the power butting, but no screen or sound.
