I have a 36in philips tv. the remote only wants to work some of the time.very irritation. tried a universal which works even less of the time. batteries new. tv is 4 yrs old. question is could it be something wrong with a sensor or something in the tv that allows the remote to just work when it wants to. was going to buy a new remote from philips but hate to blow the money if it is the tv that is screwy. tv is too big to take to shop. megga bucks to get a guy to the house. any advice or help appreciated. Also how can i erase the channel block. i accidently put in a code and didnt even pay attention to the numbers. its the thing that keeps kids off of a certain channel
thanks for any help tom

Philips has something on their website called 'interactive troubleshooting' which is actually pretty useful most of the time. For your TV, it can be found on this page:
Philips Troubleshooting
Here's how to reset your access code according to them:
How to Reset Access Code.
1. Press the remote MENU button.
2. Use the cursor down button to select "Features", then press the cursor right button.
3. Use the cursor down button to select "AutoLock", then press the cursor right button.
4. Press the following numbers on the remote control: 0,7,1, and 1 (an "X" will appear on the screen each time a number button is pressed).
5. "Incorrect" will appear on the screen. Press the numbers 0,7,1, and 1 again on the remote control.
6. "Enter New Code" will appear on the screen.
7. Using the remote, enter a new, easily remembered 4 digit code.
8. "Confirm Code" will appear on the screen. Enter the new four digit code again and "Correct" will appear on the screen.
9. Press the STATUS/EXIT button on the remote. Return to the channel or input source requiring the access code.
