Television and Home Theater

I have an old sony tv i got from a friend. The sound on it works great, but the picture is all snow. it doesnt matter if i plug a dvd player or vcr into the coax in, the s-video, or the rca jacks. any advice on what the problem could be would be great.

The picture on my projection tv has gone bad. The colors are seperated. I have tried reseting the convergence, but only helped a little. Still have a lot of problems with the green color seperation. There is a bow at the bottom 1/3 of the screen. I called a repair man and he said it was probably a bad convergence chip. The chip alone is $300.00.
Is there anything else I can try before spending so much money? The Tv is only 3 years old.

sound is going in and out, out more than any thing, it pops and snaps and then seems to be real loud and then nothing,
