Television and Home Theater

I have a sony television, its only a couple years old, that turns itself on and off. It does it for a while then stops and at other times there's no problem. Wondering if its a switch or if radio waves cold affect it?

watching the rear projection tv when it went black. . . no sound, picture, nothing. When remote activated, the panel light comes on momentarily then off. Pulled the cover to inspect fuses but couldn't locate any. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

My 45" Sharp LCD TV (just out of warranty) has developed large, blotchy darker areas in the picture that are irregularly shaped and appear permanent. They are definately not dirt or dust on the screen surface. They are particularly visible in scenes with a light background. I found one other post in another forum indicating the same issue with a Sharp Aquos LCD, but no resolution. Has anyone else encountered or heard of this issue with a Sharp LCD? Any ideas or help?
