Television and Home Theater

yes it still played up until recently. we were gave the tv. i think its a 52 inch not real certain. The picture on the tv started just going off, woudl still have sound. now when you poer up the tv we have nothing. is there any suggestions on what to do. hubby is wanting to trash it because he thinks it will cost to much to fix being so old. i was hoping to gain advice on what it may be short of doing that. any advice is greatly appreciated. I have a JVC 32" screen TV. I have just found out that My set was 1 year old this past November.
The picture is too wide! Not real distorted, just wide enough that I can't make out things on either side. The model is: AV-32F475. The aspect change via the remote works, but doesn't make a difference.
Is there a link for service modes??

i have a 1989 floor model tv magnavox 1989 the picture is great.the only thing is there is no auto tunning for my channels .and i cant get a lot of them.i have cable and the tv goes up in channels but i cant get a lot of them can some one please help me?
