Television and Home Theater

Hi, New here, so forgive me if I don't use proper edicate.I bought a sony trinitron kv-27fs100 in 2002. It worked wonderful, so I talded my dad into buying one, oops. When we tried his it had two vertical bands of distorted colors about three inches wide down each side of the screen. He returned it and got another which worked fine. My tv started flipping through the video inputs by itself, but then seemed to heal itself.

Everytime I turn the TV on, it showed as VGA mode
and I can't use the remote to change it to TV mode; it seems like the remote is not responding
at all even replacing with new batteries.

I also tried press the menu button on TV which is also not responding. Is there a reset button
or some kind of coding that I'm not aware of which will change to original setting (TV mode).

I need help, help, help. Thanks in advance.

i have a 4 year old daewoo 27' tv . the picture is great but after it plays for an hour the sound becomes distorted. what's up with that?
