I didn't see any problem exactly like this one: my 7-year old Quasar TV/VCR combo often emits a high-pitched squeal while watching or rewinding or fast forwarding a VHS tape. Is this just a matter of needing to clean the VCR or does this mean it's only downhill from here?
Thanks

Quasar TV/VCR squeals when playing a videotape
Often noises like these are caused by weak belts that are slipping during normal use. It could be the drive belt, loading belt, or both. It also could be a worn video head drum bearing or misaligned antistatic brush.
Regardless, I wouldn't recommend you put any money into this TV. In the future, I never recommend combination units (any brand), as seperate devices usually cost less, give better performance, and maximize your flexibility. Plus, if the VCR breaks, the TV is still good.
