I have a Samsung HCN4727W that is in our basement and has not been used very much. Last week we started having problems turning the TV on, it would power on have no picture then shut off. I was able to get the TV to stay on by pushing the TV/Video button a couple of times(it seemed)? We also noticed after the picture would stay on it was raised up about 3 inches. Now tonight after getting it to stay on it appeared to be a green and red double visoin picture and the picture was still raised up but seemed bowed at the bottom. After it was on for awhile it did get better but would stil occasionally have the double vision. I have seem where people have replaced their convergance board assembly, does this sound like a probable cause? I have found the part is still available online. Thanks for your help
Yes that certainly sounds like the convergence IC's. If you found the parts on eBay they are most likely QC rejected or fake/bad quality chips that will not last long and you may need some resistors and/or pico fuses. I can provide a link to a good quality seller of original Sanyo chips in a kit that includes pico's and resistors as well as instructions on how to install them.
