RCA TV goes off when turned on

I have a 3 year-old RCA TV (L26WD23). I press the power on button. The green light comes on, then the amber light blinks several times and the TV goes off.  I go through this process 10-12 times. Then the TV stays on long enough to see this message:  "The time stoared in the TV may be incorrect due to a power failure.  Set the time using the Options menu."  I have set the time repeatedly. (Some times it is already correct - sometime not.) The next time I turn on the TV, I have to repeat this process.  I have turned the TV off and let it sit for 5 minutes as recommended in the Guide.  Any other ideas?
