I have a Toshiba 56X81, 11 yrs. old. Rear projection, which I love (I can't afford a new big-screen right now).
6 yrs. ago, the convergence went out. Pro tech came, replaced chips, and everything was alright until 2 wks ago when the convergence went out again. I called another professional, who replaced both IC's and got the picture working--for a day. Then ONLY the blue convergence would go out. I could shut the TV off and restart it, and most of the time the picture came back in fine.
So I had the tech out again. He removed the whole board and took it to his shop. Told me he resoldered all the connections, replaced the chips again, and checked for microcracks. He replaced the board, and the same scenario reccurred the next day. Just blue jumps out of alignment. Turn off the TV a couple of times, and everything is fine.
Suggestions? Recommendations? I've scanned these boards for hours and haven't found an answer.
