SONY KV-36FS12 no pic, no sound, blinking standby

Great site, great resource! I've already given a couple TV's new life thanks to the postings and info here, but am stuck with the latest challenge. We've been given a Sony KV-36FS12 WEGA unit that's black screen, no audio, and either gives steady blinks or five-blink groups (no rhyme or reason to which you get when you plug it in) following a lightning hit in the previous owner's yard (same hit took out one of their computers, a can opener!, and a clock/radio). TV was working fine prior to the strike, was off at the time, and then symptomatic when they next tried to use it. Diodes on the power board seems to be a popular fault, and swapping them out wouldn't be a problem, but I'm relatively new to troubleshooting board components and could use some guidance on anything else I should look for or at and the proper procedure to test the existing diodes. I've already gained the use of two other TVs from info gained by lurking and surfing here, but this is my first post asking for specific help.
