RCA P46813BL won't stay on

Hi,

I gave my dad my old RCA P46813BL tv and it has been working great for a few years.  Recently he had a convergence issue.  From what I saw, this was most commonly caused by a bad switching regulator, so I ordered a new one (STK730-130).  While waiting for the part to come in, apparently something else happened to the tv.   Now it won't stay on.  To be more specific, when it is turned on (from the power button in front), the tv will immediately turn off.   It will do this either just once, or sometimes it will immediately turn itself back on and off 3 or 4 times.

On some more research, a saw a lot of references to replacing the flyback transformer for power on issues (239111), but they also talk about a buzzing noise when the tv is plugged in.  I am not experiencing this issue, there are no 'odd' noises coming from the tv.  Does anyone think this could still be the issue?   Or, does anyone have any other ideas.

Also, I don't have alot of electrical experience (reading schematics, etc..), but I do know how to operate a soldering iron (keep pointy hot end away from face).
