Our Mitsubishi model WS-65713, purchased in 2004, has an intermittent issue which occurs frequently. When the TV is on, the picture will suddenly get broken by diagonal lines across the screen, that appear to move from left to right, and the sound will go off. It almost looks like when the old analog TVs lost their horizontal and vertical hold. This happens most days now, but still not at all on others days, and at all times of the day. It can happen when you first turn on the set or after the set has been playing for hours. Sometimes turning the set off and back on once will cure the problem and sometimes the set must be turned off and on numerous times or left off for a time before it will play again normally. I pressed the menu and device buttons and got a code 12.
I have the Mitsubishi service manual and have read your Mitsubishi “Blinking Light Green Light Repair Procedure” which I believe I can perform. I also read your answer to a seemingly similar question in which you recommended replacing a BA09FP 9V regulator which I also can perform.
We want to keep this TV, but don’t feel it would worth a probable $500 to $1,000 service call. I would appreciate your advice and instructions that would allow me to fix it myself.
