Canon EOS Rebel XS Error

My camera, that I've had for about two years constantly gets an error, "Err 1". It reads "communications between the camera and lens is faulty. clean the lens contacts." I've cleaned the lens so many times, the part between the lens, I've tried to look up what else I could do and I just don't know! Someone please help me figure out what's wrong with my camera!
