I have an interesting problem that I have not seen in any of the forums. I replaced the bulb in my 62327 (second time) and it worked fine for a couple of weeks then all of a sudden - no picture. I took the bulb out to visually check it and when I put it back in the picture came on and was fine for the couple of hours that it was on. Next day when I turned it on, same problem - no picture. Just for the heck of it I pulled out the bulb cage and plugged it back in and sure enough it worked.
When I called Discount Merchant, the place where I purchased the bulb they said to replace the ballast, so I did. Same Problem.
The place where I bought the new ballast was pointing at the bulb as the culprit, so i sent it back to Discount Merchant and yesterday when I received the new bulb we developed a new problem.
When I turn it on, the picture comes up normally and looks perfect. Problem is that it only lasts for about fifteen seconds. After the screen goes blank (bulb shuts off) the green light flashes for a while then turns red.
Discount Merchant thought it might be a bad ballast so I re-installed the original with no change to the simptoms.
One other piece of information, after the lamp shuts off, i get an error code 24.
Any help you guys can give will be appreciated.
Also, I checked the bulb temperature sensor and it is working.
I took the set over to my local Mitsubishi dealer for a diagnosis. He told me that it is indeed the lamp. Should I get another lamp from Discount Merchant or try another vendor? One other piece of information, Mitsubishi sells the lamp and housing for $250, I paid $110 for just the lamp.
What is the real difference between the Osram, Phillips and Mitsubishi parts?
I replaced the Philips lamp with an Osram and it works perfectly!!!!!
Hi,Yes it seems that for your particular part # 915p020010 you can't use the Philips lamps you have use the Osram lamp(which is the original but only last around 4000 hrs) Philips knows about this failure and is working on creating a new improved lamp that will work fine on mitsubishi sets.Have a blessed one!
YEAP FYI, what happens is that OSRAM is the OEM for most of the mitsubishi lamps and ballast, so the guys at discount merchant are phillips distributors so in most of the tv brands the OEM is phillips so they gave you a "compatible lamp" not the OEM even knowing that phillips is better quality than the osram lamp that it is supposed to be better than the original but is not the OEM in your particular mitsubishi model. so thats why the phillips lamp didn't perform good in your tv, probably the phillips lamp that supposed to have the especifications to be compatible with your tv did not work for that reason. this will be like if someone purchase an osram for their sony it could be not performing as good as the OEM phillips.
