Was watching the tv this morning and it just shut off.Unplugged it and it came back on and worked all day and this evening just shut off again.This time unplugging it doesn't work there is no sound or picture,just the slow flashing red light.I had searched some threads and resoldered the large capacitors on the power supply.I also checked all the fuses i could find and they all checked out fine.Does it sound like the convergence ic's could cause this.Was going to order them from tvrepairkits but wanted some info first.
A little update.I left the tv unplugged all night and the next morning plugged it back in and it started working.It worked for about 12 hours and then shut off again and now does not come back on.I went ahead and ordered the kit with the chips in it and will try them.When i plug it in now the screen flickers real quick and then the red light starts flashing.
Replaced the convergence chips from the kit i received from tvrepairkits and there is no change.TV still has no picture or sound and slow flashing red light.Anyone have any ideas on what to check?
Well i got tired of messing with it and threw it in the trash and went and bought a flat screen lcd.If anyone needs any convergence chips i have the ones that came out of the tv since that didn't fix the problem i would assume they are fine.They are the stk 392-110. I will also be pulling the new stk 392-110 from the board that i got from tvrepairkits.
Last call.Anyone need the STK 392-110 convergence chips.They are free to who may need them.I will keep them a couple of more days and they are also going in the trash.Also if anyone needs a original remote for the Toshiba 50HX81 that is free also.I will keep this a couple of more days and then it all is going in the trash.

I have a Toshiba 50HX81 that has the red light blinking and nothing else working.
I called Toshiba and they said it was a "board". Which board and what would it cost to have it fixed ? Can I replace the board myself ?
