Our 3-year-old 32" Sony Bravia LCD tv, model KDL-V32XBR1, has had no problems until a few days ago when a dotted white line appeared two inches from the bottom of the screen. The line is composed of little rectangles of multi-colored pixels (say 5 pixels across and 3 pixels down), separated from each other by an inch of perfect picture. Three days after this line appeared, a second identical line appeared five inches from the top of the screen. The rest of the screen is a perfect picture.
Could anyone please advise us as to whether this can be repaired and if it would be an expensive repair? While we hate to replace our set, we could purchase a new Sony KDL-32XBR9 for $620. Any recommendations about repair versus purchase would be very welcome.
Please note that we live in New York City so the repairs might be higher than elsewhere in the country. Thanks so much for your help.
