Hello! This is my first post. I have a 50V715 we bought in 2004. The light engine was replaced in 12/08. Hitachi was nice and replaced it but... I had to pay $300 for the service call. I could have put it in but they said it had to be an authorized dealer. Anyway, now the TV powers up, picture is fine, sound is OK, but... stays on for 5 to 30 sec. then shuts down and does the same thing. The lamp indicator and the temp. light on front panel does not light or even flicker. I think it seems to be the ballast that light the lamp, sound coming from it is strange. It could be the main power unit. Anyone have any thoughts would be helpful.
ENDED UP BUYING A NEW LAMP (PHILLIPS)) PUT IT IN AND THE SET WORKS GREAT!!!!!!
