HLN5065W Screen Problem

Today I picked up a amsung HLN5065W DLP TV with issues from our local craigslist.  I really want to fix this one so I'm hoping to to find some info.  I had no luck fixign the Mitsu WS-52525 that we got so I figured I woudl try again.

The previous owners told me the set needs a DMD board, but to me that means, Time to get my hands dirty.

Whe nthe set is turned on, the green lamp light flashes green for a sec, the set chimes, then the light goes away and the screen ligths up.  Only it lights up with no picture, and just a bright dot or two.  It acts to me like the color wheel is not turning.  So, Could this be an easy fix at the component level on the DMD board?  Does anyone have any experience working on these that can lend some advice?  Thank you.

UPDATE: The screen has about

UPDATE: The screen has about a 2 inch black bar at the bottom of it while the rest is obviously lit. I cannot get any sort of response fro mteh buttons and I get no display on the screen at all. I can hear a whine which I guess to be the colorwheel, and the bulb is definatly firing. So could this be a DMD board or perhaps another board? If it is the DM board, are those repairable? The original owner told me DVM board, but I'm guessing that was an error on her part.

Okay, so email back from the previous owners told me a certified tech said the DMD board was bad. So, has anyone tried to service one on their own?

To my knowledge there is no repair shop out there for the DMD board (or also referred as an optical block by some) but if you are interested you can click on this site to find a replacement DMD board: http://www.discount-merchant.com/We-provide-factory-original-parts-world...

Good Luck

Thanks. I'm familiar with discount-merchant and shopjimmy as well. I just don't have any money at the moment and wanted to try the component level repair myself. Has anyone tried to re-flash the chip or firmware or soemthing like that? I mean, somewhere at the end, someone fixes these to "Refurbish" them right?

Well Samsung directly in his support site has come with firmware updates for other TV's in the past including one I had (I don't remember the model # right now), you could try and visit their support site.
